How to Transfer Your GoodNotes Notebooks to Noteful: Step-by-Step Guide

 

Here is a complete step-by-step tutorial for transferring and using your GoodNotes stickers in Noteful, including how to use GoodNotes as a side-by-side sticker storage book.

Method 1: Use GoodNotes as a Sticker Storage Book (Copy & Paste Method)

If you already have organized .goodnotes sticker books, you don't need to convert them into PNG files. You can keep your sticker book open in GoodNotes and copy stickers straight into Noteful as you plan.

Step 1: Open Both Apps in iPad Split View

1. Open Noteful to the notebook or planner page where you want to add stickers.

2. Swipe up slowly from the bottom of your iPad screen to bring up the Dock.

3. Tap and hold the GoodNotes app icon, then drag it to the far right or left edge of the screen to open Split View.

4. In GoodNotes, open your .goodnotes Sticker Book file.

Step 2: Select and Copy in GoodNotes

1. In GoodNotes, tap the Lasso Tool in the toolbar.

2. Tap the Lasso tool again and make sure Images is toggled ON.

3. Draw a loop around the sticker you want to use.

4. Tap inside the selection circle and choose Copy. (Note: Always tap "Copy"—never tap "Cut", or the sticker will be removed from your GoodNotes sticker book).

1. Tap over onto your Noteful page.

If you want to move away from GoodNotes completely and store all your stickers directly inside Noteful's toolbar panel, convert them into individual PNGs first.

Step 1: Extract Stickers from GoodNotes to iPad Files

1. Open GoodNotes and the iPad Files App side-by-side in Split View.

2. Create a folder in Files named "My Stickers".

3. In GoodNotes, circle a sticker with the Lasso Tool.

4. Tap and hold the selected sticker with your finger until it lifts off the page.

5. Drag and drop the sticker over into your "My Stickers" folder in the Files app. iPadOS will automatically save it as a transparent PNG image.

Step 2: Bulk Import into Noteful's Sticker Library

1. Open Noteful full-screen.

2. Tap the Sticker Tool (the star icon in the main toolbar).

3. Tap + Add at the bottom of the panel to create a New Collection (e.g., "Icons" or "Sticky Notes").

4. Tap Import from Files inside your new collection.

5. Navigate to your "My Stickers" folder, multi-select all your saved PNG stickers at once, and tap Open.

Pro-Tip for Using Stickers in Noteful

When pasting or placing stickers into Noteful, take advantage of the Layers system:

1. Tap the Layers panel (top toolbar in Noteful) and select Layer 1.

2. Paste your stickers onto Layer 1.

3. Switch to Layer 2 to write your handwritten notes over or around the stickers.

4. Now, when you erase or lasso your handwriting on Layer 2, your stickers on Layer 1 will never accidentally shift or erase!
